Itch.io is selling a games bundle for racial Justice and Equality. All proceeds go to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Community Bail Fund. We believe that the bundle is supporting an essential cause, and we want to contribute to spreading the opportunity.
The bundle asks for a minimum of $5 and ends early Tuesday morning in the United States. Over 1,500 games, software, and assets are included in the bundle. We’ve tried quite a few now, and we’d like to share some of our favorites we’ve found so far. For this feature, we’ll be focusing on platformers included in the bundle. Let’s get started.
Cuckoo Castle is a mini metroidvania where you play as multiple characters exploring a castle filled with enemies. The sprite-work is gorgeous, and attacks have explosive impact. Highly recommended.
Mable and the Wood is another metroidvania featuring an inspired design. Mable’s sword is too heavy to carry, so she leaves it behind when she transformers into a fairy. Pressing a button returns the sword to her hands, slicing anything in its path. As she defeats bosses, Mable unlocks new forms that interact with her sword in different ways and allow her to explore new areas.
Mobius is an inventive platformer wherein every level is a mobius strip. Moving your mouse spins the level around, allowing you to see the other side of the strip and the coins needed to advance. It’s super neat.
Tiny Dangerous Dungeons is yet another metroidvania inspired by Game Boy classics. It’s polished, lean, and super fun.
The Floor is Jelly is a challenge-based platformer in which the floors and walls are gelatinous. Your character can bounce on the floors to build momentum and jump farther.
