Xbox Cloud Gaming Launches on Consoles

Xbox Cloud Gaming has launched on Xbox consoles. Cloud play is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.

Xbox Cloud Gaming (formerly known as xCloud) is currently in beta and is also available to stream to PC and mobile devices.

To play Xbox games over the cloud, you need a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

As far as I’m aware, this is the first time a console is forward compatible.

For Xbox One users, cloud gaming also allows you to play some next gen games on the Xbox One console you already own. This means select games that are currently only playable on Xbox Series X|S [via disc or download] , like Recompile, The Medium, and The Riftbreaker, are now playable on your Xbox One with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and cloud gaming.

Go here to see a list of all games currently playable with Xbox Cloud Gaming. Change the filter to Cloud.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is currently available in 25 regions. Visit this link to view where.

  • Under Availability by product/service, scroll right and select Xbox Game Pass.
  • Then, in the table beneath, scroll to the right-most column, displaying regions where Cloud Play is available.
